It was a rough year!
the deer pole looked beter in the Great Depression than it does now . . 2009 was a rough year for many. The economic woes of high unemployment, recession, and the overall environment has left us all feeling like 2009 was a bust. The deer season has come to a close in the same fashion as everything else this year. I am curious to see what the DNR reports as the season results. My local observations... read more

Ohio Hunters Feeding the Hungry With Nearly 100,000 lbs of Donated Venison
I just ran across a great bit of news that seems just perfect for the Christmas season. The Ohio DNR has recently reported that hunters in the Buckeye State have donated almost 100,000 pounds of venison to needy families! Why Has Hunting in 2009 Been So Bad?
Deer harvest estimates have been popping up across the Midwest and most preliminary results have been rather disturbing. Illinois hunters failed to take out 100,000 deer for the first time in a decade during gun season.
